Pensacola, Fla. (October 1, 2020) –  This year in October we celebrate 30 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and 75 years of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, or NDEAM. The national theme for this month’s observance is “Increasing Access and Opportunity.”

Global Connections to Employment (GCE) is the largest local employer of persons with disabilities. GCE’s corporate office is located in Pensacola at 2001 North Palafox Street. Teams provide custodial and food services, IT services, training, call center support, business services, facilities maintenance, health care environmental services and employment and support services. At sites across the nation, GCE employs approximately 1,800 people. Team members work at military installations, hospitals, health care centers, and mental health agencies.

Locally, GCE employs about 470 community members at 26 sites in Northwest Florida. They help serve more than 11,000 meals a day at the Naval Air Station Pensacola Galley. Across all military branches, GCE team members clean 15,000,000 square feet of space. Throughout Florida, more than 960 people work for GCE, of which more than 600 have a disability.
