Light the Way Award Recognizes Help for Children

Pensacola, Fla. (July 21, 2016) – FamiliesFirst Network (FFN) of Lakeview Center is pleased to announce that Peggy Custred, associate adoption specialist, received the Light the Way Award presented by the Florida Coalition for Children during the annual statewide conference.

Peggy has worked in child welfare and adoption for 38 years and joined FFN in 2002. During an acceptance speech, she gave credit to the entire FFN team for the recognition. “My journey has always been a team effort and I have accepted this award on behalf of all of us,” Peggy said.

Over almost four decades, Peggy has spent countless hours recruiting adoptive families, and placing children in safe, loving homes. Some community projects include: Art of Adoption; Footprints to A Forever Family 5K Run/Walk; picnics, media segments, donations, and holiday events.

“Peggy has never met a child she considers ‘unadoptable,’ even the most challenging placements such as sibling groups, those with complex medical issues or mental health concerns,” said Shawn Salamida, president, FamiliesFirst Network. “We can’t think of a more deserving person to receive this award.”
