FamiliesFirst Network Leader is Honored
Pensacola, Fla. (July 27, 2015) – The Florida Coalition for Children Foundation (FCCF) presented Shawn Salamida, President of FamiliesFirst Network of Lakeview Center (FFN) , with the Champion for Children award during an Orlando conference in June. Salamida was honored for his tireless work to protect children and better the child welfare system.
CEO of the Florida Coalition for Children Kurt Kelly presented the award to Mr. Salamida saying, "The dedication of individuals like Shawn is an inspiration to our community, our state and the nation. It is so important to recognize our frontline workers and provide them with every opportunity to continue learning and sharing best practices to ensure we are protecting the children and youth in our care."
Since Feb. 2014, Salamida has been in his role as the leader of FamiliesFirst Network. He has served on the Florida Coalition for Children Board of Directors for four years. He was previously the CEO of Partnership for Families, another lead agency in Gainesville. Along with other community-based lead agencies, FFN's primary goal is to establish safety and permanency and to support the well-being of abused and neglected children in Northwest Florida.
FCCF's annual awards are a cornerstone of the organization and are presented each year at the annual conference. More than 120 nominations were received this year from the organization's 67 members. A committee then chose the 16 award winners, which included awardee Salamida.
An affiliate of Baptist Health Care, Lakeview Center Inc. is a network of behavioral health, vocational and child protective services. These services address a broad spectrum of human needs, reflecting a longstanding commitment to helping people overcome life's challenges.
