Vocational Services

Vocational Services, a business line of Global Connections to Employment (GCE), helps people with disabilities prepare for competitive work through evaluation and career planning and employment and support services.

Other Services include:

Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation: Through a Comprehensive Vocational Evaluation, a person learns how prepared he or she is for goals of employment, vocational skills training and/or continuing education. Through a Work Site Evaluation, a person will be placed on a job site for a specific time frame to assess ability to perform necessary job functions. Discovery is a more in-depth alternative to assessing individuals work abilities and preferences.  

On the Job Training (OJT): This service gives a person the opportunity to learn or enhance work skills through a paid OJT assignment located at a community business.

Admission Criteria: Ability to pass a drug test and criminal history, if applicable, must not prohibit employment in occupational goal.

Pre-Placement Training: This 20-hour formal instruction program prepares people so that they present themselves, and their work experience, in a positive manner to a prospective employer. 

Employment Services: This service helps an individual to prepare for, obtain, and retain employment in the community and also provides short-term job coaching and follow-along supports.

Supported Employment: This service assists a person in preparing for, obtaining, and retaining employment in the community with long-term job coaching and follow-along supports.

Project SEARCH: This business-led collaboration enables young adults with disabilities to prepare for, obtain, and retain employment through career exploration, non-paid internships, and direct job placement services.

Our programs are comprehensive in nature and are designed to help individuals with disabilities maximize their vocational potential. Our staff provides support and guidance based on each person’s strengths, needs, abilities and preferences. We believe that all individuals are capable of leading productive lives and should have the opportunity to contribute to their community. Our staff members are helping them do that by connecting them to the world of work.
