FACT: Cardiac arrest can occur due to heart disease, stroke or trauma. Cardiovascular disease currently accounts for nearly one million deaths in the U.S. each year. It is possible that you may encounter someone who may suffer cardiac arrest. Baptist Hospital offers Basic Life Support (BLS) courses from the American Heart Association for adult, infant and child victims. On-site business, group and corporate as well as individual programs are available. A course completion or participation card is issued upon completion of these courses.
The following courses are offered at the Baptist LifeFlight Continuing Education.
Heartsaver CPR - Three lay program choices exist. They are: Heartsaver CPR for Adults, Heartsaver CPR for Pediatrics, and Heartsaver for All Ages. Appropriate for most non medical rescuers. Course completion card provided.
HeartSaver AED - This lay course teaches basic techniques of adult CPR and the use of AED. Appropriate for police, fire fighters, security guards, or airline personnel. Course completion card provided.
CPR for Family and Friends - Basic lay rescuer course divided into three programs for Adult, Pediatrics and All Ages. Course attendance card provided.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers - Professional course appropriate for healthcare professionals, physicians, nurses, EMT's. Completion card provided. Re-training courses also offered for participants with current cards.
